Dominic Benhura is widely regarded as one of the premier stone sculptors in the world, while exhibiting prominently for over three decades in numerous art markets around the globe. Born in 1968, Dominic hails from the small village of Murewa in northern Zimbabwe. His sculptures often feature themes of playful children and families exuding joy and love. His work is notable for his use of sharp contrasts of texture, colors, and more recently his decorative inlay designs within the stone. Dominic’s work appeals affectionately to a broad international audience and is featured in prominent public and private collections. Most notably, his 3-piece work titled “Leap Frog” is on permanent display at the Hartsfield International airport in Atlanta, Georgia. As one of his most cherished achievements, Dominic also had the privilege of making a personal presentation to Nelson Mandela with his landmark “Swing Me Mama” sculpture in 2003, as a gesture of gratitude and appreciation for one of the world’s greatest heroes. This work is on display in the permanent collection of the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Johannesburg, South Africa.
