Peter Anton’s work has been extensively exhibited in over 30 solo shows throughout the world, including the Allan Stone Gallery, Hammer Galleries, Bruce R. Lewin Gallery, and Unix Gallery in New York City; Urban Art in Seoul; Guy Pieters Gallery in Belgium; Galerie von Braunbehrens in Stuttgart, Germany; Gallery Delaive in Amsterdam; Rarity Gallery in Mykonos; Scott Richards Contemporary Art in San Francisco; Gallery Valentine in East Hampton; and Arcature Fine Art in Palm Beach.

Mr. Anton has exhibited in numerous museums, including solo exhibitions at the Netherlands’ Museum Jan van der Togt in Amstelveen and the Lyman Allyn Art Museum in New London, Connecticut. Anton is also known for his immersive installations. In 2012 Art Basel Miami featured his installation SUGAR & GOMORRAH. The interactive sculpture was the world’s first art installation where the viewer rode through an exhibition aboard an amusement ride. The immersive exhibition took visitors on an actual roller coaster ride winding and snaking through a destructed city with tumbling pillars, fire, and skeletons juxtaposed with larger-than-life sculptures of sugary treats and nearly nude live models.

“His work is witty, funny, transformative” observed Virginia Mecklenburg, chief curator at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, who likens Anton. . . to modern masters such as Jasper Johns. “You look at it and laugh, and then look at it again and think.”

“Peter Anton is no stranger to crafting surprising art experiences. His deft hand is apparent in the realistic stroke of food sculptures mounted to the gallery walls. . . (He) proves himself to be a keen observer and a cunning artist.” wrote independent curator Audra Lambert in Arte Fuse.

Artnet News said that the artist’s “. . . meticulous exploration of textures and use of vibrant colors celebrate the importance and allure of food within people’s lives, both past and present.” Also noting that it is “. . . somewhat difficult to look at Peter Anton’s works without feeling hunger pangs. However, his large-scale food sculptures not only activate viewers’ stomachs, but also stimulate their memories and desires.”
