"UTombi means 'daughter' in Fanagalo, a language rooted in Zulu with influence from English and Africans. It was develop as a common language for communication among the miners in South Africa, bridging the diverse cultures and languages in the mines. Growing up in the mining town or Carletonville, just outside Johannesburg, my father worked in the world’s deepest gold mine. The UTombi collection is a heartfelt tribute to my late father and my South African heritage."
