At Bonner David Galleries, artist Estella Fransbergen unveils a luminous new body of work inspired by nature, intuition and the female form.
When Estella Fransbergen was a young girl in South Africa, she spent her days outdoors shaping clay she dug out of creeks. “We didn’t have a TV,” she recalls. “So I was always out in nature, messing around with my girlfriends, climbing trees. I was definitely a tomboy.”
That connection to earth and nature never left her. Though neither of her parents were artists—“my mom was an RN and my dad worked in the gold mines”—Fransbergen’s creative curiosity was innate. Her path took her from South Africa to the Netherlands to the United States, each place adding a layer to her artistic identity.
