Clark is a native of the Midwest, was educated in communication and ultimately earned a Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota. For the next thirty-eight years he was a professor in the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University, coaching their internationally renowned speech and debate team for fifteen years; developing Civil Dialogue, a means to have conversations with people we strongly disagree with (see his book "Hot Topics, Cool Heads"); and publishing award winning articles in professional journals. While at ASU, he regularly taught and traveled internationally, visiting museums and galleries throughout the world. He was an executive member of the International Forensics Association for twenty-five years, administering their annual tournament. He also spent twenty years as a docent at the Phoenix Art Museum.
During a sabbatical in 1998, he met Christi while working at another gallery; he directed Eskind Fine Art for two years where he learned the business aspects of gallery life. It was at that time that he and Christi developed plans for Bonner David.
Today, Clark educates clients about collecting and helps them compile their art into museum-worthy collections. Known for his keen eye for art, today he lives in Phoenix where he enjoys developing his own collection and living with his two Westies, Quincy and Barrington, and his two kitties, Juniper and Laurel.
