Garden Party: Hunt Slonem & Kevin Box
Garden Party is a recognition of how different artists celebrate nature through their respective media and experiences.
Bonner David New York is pleased to present Garden Party, a two-person exhibition featuring Hunt Slonem and Kevin Box, on view from September 17 through October 10, 2026. Marking Kevin Box's debut exhibition with the gallery, Garden Party brings together two artists whose work celebrates the beauty and wonder of the natural world through distinct artistic approaches.
For more than four decades, Hunt Slonem has established himself as one of the leading voices in contemporary American art. While best known for his iconic rabbits, birds, and butterflies, flowers have remained a lifelong source of inspiration—from his early fascination with orchids in Hawaii to the flourishing gardens surrounding his homes today.
In Garden Party, Slonem brings flowers to the forefront, presenting flowers across richly textured surfaces alive with color, movement, and light. The exhibition reflects his enduring fascination with nature, spirituality, and the environments that surround him, transforming familiar subjects into vibrant expressions of beauty and life.
Kevin Box is internationally recognized for translating the delicate qualities of folded paper into museum-quality bronze sculpture. His work explores geometry, light, and the enduring philosophy of origami, with sculptures held in prominent public and private collections worldwide. Through his practice, Box seeks to establish origami as a lasting chapter in the history of art while demonstrating the universal ideas of creativity, transformation, and connection embedded within it.
For Garden Party, Box presents a selection of origami-inspired animals, blooming flowers, and his signature "crumpled paper" sculptures. Together, these works explore themes of truth, chaos and consciousness, creation and evolution, the creative process, and our shared responsibility to one another.
Collectors and visitors are invited to an Opening Reception on Thursday, September 24, from 6–8 p.m., celebrating the season with the last garden party of the summer.
