Quim Bové: Levitations

Overview

Developed through more than three decades of artistic inquiry, Levitation presents the mature visual language of Bové, exploring unseen forces that shape matter, perception, emotion, and human experience.

Working between abstraction and representation, Bové transforms sensation, tension, movement, and relationship into paintings that invite personal interpretation. The exhibition explores ascent as both physical movement and a metaphor for transformation, balancing gravity and release, structure and freedom, matter and light.

Bové’s practice draws from philosophy, metaphysics, science, music, drawing, and painting. His early connection to classical music, jazz, and improvisation continues to inform an intuitive process in which gesture becomes a form of thought and sensation evolves into painted form.

His move from Catalonia to the American Southwest further expanded his understanding of space and energy, influenced by the region’s vastness, silence, scale, and intense light.

Levitation marks a significant expression of Bové’s evolving practice, inviting viewers into a deeper dialogue with space, energy, perception, and transformation.
